KYRGYZSTAN
2019
A land adorned with natural beauty and a rich nomadic tradition welcomed us as we embarked on the Ala Kul Trek. We had to ascend quickly to secure a spot in the yurt camp, perched high amidst the Alpine forests. The first few hours of the trek treated us to miles of rolling hills, valleys lined with pine trees, snow-capped peaks, and a scattering of wild horses.
As night fell, our base camp transformed into a mini United Nations, hosting people from Denmark, France, Estonia, and beyond. In such moments, you find yourself focusing more on your commonalities than your differences. Beneath a sky filled with countless twinkling stars, we shared stories and laughter, bonding before the final push to the peak the following day.
After a couple of days recovering from the trek and we set out to the Pamir Highway from Kyrgyzstan, crossing into Tajikistan and passing by the border of Afghanistan.
